چکیده

We consider the movement minimization problem in a conveyor flow shop processing controlled by one worker for all machines. A machine can only execute tasks if the worker is present. Each machine can serve as a bu¤er. The objective is to minimize the total number of movements of the worker for the processing of all jobs. Such minimization problems usually appear in conveyor controlled manufacturing systems. We show the NPcompleteness of the problem and introduce an approximation algorithm with error ratio 2.

A linear time approximation algorithm for movement minimization in conveyor flow shop processing

We consider the movement minimization problem in a conveyor flow shop processing controlled by one worker for all machines. A machine can only execute tasks if the worker is present. Each machine can serve as a buffer. The worker has to cover a certain distance to move from one machine to the other. The distance between two machines Pp and Pq is jp qj. The objective is to minimize the total dis...

A comparison of algorithms for minimizing the sum of earliness and tardiness in hybrid flow-shop scheduling problem with unrelated parallel machines and sequence-dependent setup times

In this paper, the flow-shop scheduling problem with unrelated parallel machines at each stage as well as sequence-dependent setup times under minimization of the sum of earliness and tardiness are studied. The processing times, setup times and due-dates are known in advance. To solve the problem, we introduce a hybrid memetic algorithm as well as a particle swarm optimization algorithm combine...

A Mathematical Model for a Flow Shop Scheduling Problem with Fuzzy Processing Times

This paper presents a mathematical model for a flow shop scheduling problem consisting of m machine and n jobs with fuzzy processing times that can be estimated as independent stochastic or fuzzy numbers. In the traditional flow shop scheduling problem, the typical objective is to minimize the makespan). However,, two significant criteria for each schedule in stochastic models are: expectable m...

Bi-objective Optimization for Just in Time Scheduling: Application to the Two-Stage Assembly Flow Shop Problem

This paper considers a two-stage assembly flow shop problem (TAFSP) where m machines are in the first stage and an assembly machine is in the second stage. The objective is to minimize a weighted sum of earliness and tardiness time for n available jobs. JIT seeks to identify and eliminate waste components including over production, waiting time, transportation, inventory, movement and defective...

A Fuzzy Algorithm for the m-Machine, n-Job Flow Shop Sequencing Problem

Flow shop sequencing problem is included in NP-hard problems and a number of heuristic methods have been developed to solve it. Most of these methods are offered for the crisp processing time. However fuzzy algorithm is appropriate for the problems with fuzzy processing time. This paper presents a method in which an algorithm is used to minimize make span of flow shop with fuzzy processing time...
